JAMMU: Independent legislator and AIP Supremo Er Rasheed was allegedly thrashed by police before his detention at Police station Patnitop in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.
An AIP spokesman said that Rasheed and his colleagues were detained on Friday by police at Patnitop as they were on their way to Ramban, where the MLA Langate had to address a series of public gatherings.
"As soon as Er. Rasheed reached Patnitop Friday afternoon he was stopped by a heavy contingent of J&K Police. However when Er. Rasheed started arguing with the police officers, he was humiliated, thrashed and detained forcibly at Police Station Patnitop," he said.
Condemning the incident, the spokesman said that the BJP-PDP Govt. was using J&K Police as a tool to curb the genuine voices.
"Such dirty tricks will not weaken the will of Er. Rasheed," added the spokesman while accusing the police of jungle raj. (CNS)
