Srinagar: As many as 20 employees working on regular/temporary basis the health department are without salaries ever since there were engaged in the department in district Budgam.
“We have not received any salary from the last two years. On last Eid, we were promised by our higher ups that you will get some part of salary on this festival, but later that did happen. When we approached the BMO, he said he has not received any money for them,” said one employee.
He said they are doing labour work and other related stuff after they leave their respective offices in the evening or in the morning before coming to the office.
“It becomes difficult for us to make both ends meet. We are living in utmost poverty. We thought we got job, even if a meagre salary, but we will be getting it on time to help our families, but we are in acute financial problems,” the distressed employees told PTK.
According to the documents they showed, they have been recruited in the department in 2014 after the High court had directed the Director health services to comply with the orders to engage these without any further delay.
They were actually recruited in the year 2012, but the same was challenged by one candidate in the court. After further proceedings and hearings in the court, the department had engaged them on 19-12-2014. (PTK)
