Srinagar: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has called for sending a United Nations fact-finding mission to Kashmir while reiterating its demand of giving right to self-determination to the Kashmiri people.
"The Executive Committee (of the OIC) adopted the Ankara Declaration that, inter alia, reaffirmed support for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people, underscoring that the issue of Jammu & Kashmir remained the core dispute between Pakistan and India," said a statement issued by the speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
"The Declaration also called for the just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions that call for a free and impartial plebiscite conducted under the auspices of the UN.”
While addressing the 36th Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Union of Organization of Islamic Conference (PUIC) in Ankara, Sadiq rejected the Indian moves to equate the struggle of the Kashmiri people for self-determination with terrorism, saying that they have been repeatedly and categorically rejected international community
