Srinagar: All India Sikh Students Federation has asked State Government to start a fresh probe into the Chatisinghpora and Mehjoor Nagar incidents in which innocent Sikhs were butchered by unidentified gunmen.
AISSF president Manjit Singh Bhoma told news agency CNS that they raised the demand for probing these gruesome incidents before the state governor NN Vohra whom the Sikh leaders including Sarabjit Singh from Jammu and Joginder Singh Shan from Kashmir met on Thursday.
“Till date neither New Delhi nor authorities has succeeded in bringing to justice the perpetrators behind these tragic incidents,” he said demanding impartial probe into all these incidents.
"We demand impartial probe into the Chhatisinghpora and Mehjoornagar massacres of Sikhs to identify the culprits and bring them to justice," he said.
The Sikh body said that Sikhs in Kashmir are living under threat and their social, political, economic and fundamental rights are being suppressed by the present state government. “Government is not keen to fulfill any of our demands including granting of minority status,” he said.(CNS)
