SRINAGAR: In a bid to foil the resistance leadership called march towards UN office in Srinagar on Friday, government has decided to impose restrictions in several areas of Srinagar city including Downtown areas.
Call for the UN march has been given by the joint resistance leadership: Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.
It is also aimed at asking the United Nations to impress upon India to “shun the violence” and resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations by implementing the relevant resolutions of the World Body.’
The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Srinagar Farooq Ahmad Lone told KNS over phone that restrictions will be put in place in several areas of Srinagar to foil the march towards Sonawar.
“Restrictions will be put in place in some areas of Srinagar to thwart any disruption in law and order,” DC Srinagar said.
Meanwhile, a security meet held on Thursday also discussed at threadbare the security measures needed to be taken in view of the UN march scheduled on Friday.
It was learnt that the security will be intensified along the roads leading to UN office located in Sonawar. Besides downtown areas, restrictions are likely to be imposed in some uptown areas as well.
