Anantnag: A family from South Kashmir’s Anantnag district Friday alleged that government armed forces were responsible for the death of one of their female member who according to family suffered heart attack after the armed forces pelted stones and bricks on their roof top and displayed violent behavior at the gate of their house.
“They (Government Forces) killed my old mother. She collapsed inside the house when men in uniform attacked our house with stones and yelled at us to open the gate. My mother Sara Begum (55) lost her balance and when we shifted her to hospital, the doctors their declared her brought dead,” Arshi, the daughter of the slain woman told news agency CNS.
The husband of the deceased woman, Ghulam Hasan Teli, a resident of Chee Anantnag said that he can’t explain in words the behavior and action of those troopers who showered bricks and stone on our house and violently kicked our iron gate.
The villagers said that these troopers fled from the village after they made announcements from the mosques asked people to come out on the road. “They were 15 to 20 in number and they had parked their vehicles outside the village,” they said adding that Sara Begum was laid to rest on Friday morning.
The deceased woman was the close relative of former High Court Bar Association General Secretary G.N.Shaheen. Shaheen told CNS over phone that government forces unleashed a reign of terror in the village. “Sara Begum was frightened after Forces attacked houses and banged the doors of the houses of the locals,” he said and condemned the action of government forces.
A doctor who inspected the slain woman in the hospital said that she had died of cardiac arrest. A police official too said that the cause of the death was heart attack. He said that Forces personnel are not involved in any way and are not the cause of death of the woman.
Pertinently, on 12 August last month, a 55 year-old woman Jameela wife of Abdur Rashid Khan of Nundresh Colony-B, Bemina died of heart attack when paramilitary CRPF men threw stones at her house and trained guns at her.
Meanwhile, District police administration Anantnag clarified that: “Sara Begum was a known heart patient and died of heart attack last night. Some people are trying to mislead by alleging that she died because of banging of door of her house by security forces is far from the truth. The allegation is totally baseless and is therefore rebutted.” (CNS)
