Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) today said military aggression and war is no solution to any problem, it instead worsens problems further which the three previous wars between both the two countries have shown.
The conglomerate also criticized the role of Indian electronic and print media for creating war hysteria and arousing passions among the people of the two countries, aggravating confrontation between the two countries.
Calling upon New Delhi and Islamabad to de-escalate tensions, the amalgam in a statement here said the two nuclear neighbours should behave maturely and instead of confrontations which can only be disastrous for the entire region engage in serious dialogue to resolve issues and bring peace.
The amalgam strongly condemned the government for the continued detention and solitary confinement of its chairman Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq for the past more than one month at a sub jail since August 26 and his house arrest of two months before that at his Nigeen residence from July 8, 2016.
The spokesman said arbitrary curbs and detention of the Mirwaiz has prevented him from discharging his religious obligations and dawaa and social work as the Mirwaiz.
The spokesman said that similar arrest of other senior Hurriyat leaders Shahid-ul-Islam Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, and others and of veteran resistance leader, Syed Ali Geelani, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabir Ahmed Shah and others besides hundreds of activists and over six thousand innocent civilians will not either cow down the people nor the leadership from pursuing their just struggle, it only reflects the governments insecurity and fear of exposure and dealing with the truth.
The conglomerate also called upon these organisations to help stop state terrorism, killings, oppression and suppression of people of Kashmir at the hands of government forces instead of indulging in rhetorical statements. (PTK)
