Pulwama: Protest erupted in Karimabad hamlet of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district after Army according to locals destroyed more than 500 apple boxes kept by a farmer on the road to load them in a truck on Thursday.
“I had kept my 500 delicious apple boxes alongside the road and was waiting for the truck to load them for the market. Suddenly Army vehicles appeared in the village and ransacked these apple boxes without any provocation. The army men destroyed all these boxes though the area was peaceful and there was no stone-pelting or pro-freedom protest,” the owner of these apple boxes Ghulam Qadir Pandit told news agency CNS.
The incident sparked protest in the area while large number of people hit to roads and staged anti-India protest. The protesters alleged these army men have become ‘dictators’ who have let loose a reign of terror in the area.
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Muneer-ul-Islam said that he has no knowledge about the incident. “Let me confirm it, will get back to you,” he said.
“An official from the Indian Army at Badamibagh Cantonement Srinagar Col . Manish while dening the report told Kashmir Observer that Army is not involved in the incident.”
