Srinagar : At a time the State Board of School Education (BOSE) has decided to take the annual examination for class 10th and 12th in Kashmir division from the second week of November.
The Press Trust of Kashmir visited to several localities in Srinagar and talked to students about their preparedness about the forthcoming examinations.
Most of the students expressed their unwillingness about the examinations citing some very serious reasons.
One students of class 12th said they haven’t even completed even 25 per cent of syllabus, adding they face mental stress and trauma. “We feel like disinterested in studies when the surroundings are gripped in fear and bloodbath. Is this a conducive atmosphere around to concentrate on studies,” said Aqsa, a girl from Batamaloo.
Aqsa lives near Reka-Chowk in Batamaloo, the area which witnesses frequent clashes. She said the forces have broken all the window panes of their house. “I fear to study till late night. I feel like choked,” she said.
The parents are also concerned about the safety f their wards. The prevailing situation is not feasible for their wards to study till late nights. “You can study when there is peace,” they said.
“ Jaan hai tu jaahan hai,” said one of the parents.
Another student Ayaan, who studies in class 10th, says on what grounds the government claims that situation is better for examinations.
“We all students request Minister of education Naeem Akhtar and Director Education Shah Faisal to review their decision,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kashmir Private Schools Association Chairman G.N. War said that they are also facing this problem as parents call them daily that students are not mentally prepared for examinations.
He also said that in 2014 only 5 percent of the schools were damaged in Kashmir but government postponed all the exams that time. “If we see the present situation hundreds of students are injured and many got killed. If govt is serious about it why they can’t restore internet and only open college and school websites not social media,” he said. (PTK)
