Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) on Saturday said those trying to “disrupt” and “disturb” the joint resistance programme during relaxations are “playing in the hands of those who want to crush the present uprising” while requesting people especially youth to “keep an eye on such violations used by the cunning enemy against us”.
As per a statement issued to GNS, the conglomerate alleged that a local PDP MLA along with police has threatened the representatives of Macca Market in Lal Chowk, Srinagar to open a few shops to give the impression of normalcy. “When shopkeepers refused, the politician with the help of police resorted to vandalism and razed the whole market to ground. He even compelled these poor guys to provide a crowd of 20-30 people for the PDP public meeting failing which will invite trouble for them,” it said.
The Hurriyat while condemning the “bloodbath” and “atrocities” by government forces on Friday said the killing of Danish Sultan of Palpora, injuring about 300 people, and arresting more than 2000 speaks volumes about the foolproof arrangements made for the visit of the upcoming Indian delegation. “The delegation is coming to assess the Kashmir situation as if they are from a different planet where the cries and sorrows of Kashmiris do not reach,” the statement said.
Condemning the “cold-blooded murder” of Danish, Hurriyat reiterated that “India has to leave this place sooner or later as no force on earth can hold a living population hostage just for lust and ego. Human history stands testimony to it”.
The conglomerate also condemned the police action against journalists and photojournalists at Batamaloo saying the police “vandalism” is crossing all limits with each passing day while the administration continues to pat them for such “anti-people” and “undemocratic” actions.
Hurriyat said it has also taken serious note of the reports that an ambulance carrying some doctors was stopped at Baghat-e-Kanipora by some youth and was humiliated.
Meanwhile, commenting on arrest of the district president, Shah Wali Mohammad of Seelu, Hurriyat said that arresting an 80-year-old physically fragile and an ailing senior citizen of Sopore is the “barbaric” and “ruthless” face of Indian democracy in Jammu and Kashmir. “Our resolve and will can in no way be dented by such immoral and undemocratic means.”
On the arrest of Taha Indrabi who is the brother of Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) chief Syeda Aasiya Andrabi, the conglomerate asked administration especially police that “you start lecturing people for targeting your families for your faults. Where stand your human and moral values when you yourself arrest son in place of father and brother in place of sister. You act as more loyal than the king just for petty monetary benefits and departmental promotions”.
The amalgam reiterated its appeal to police to “stop these inhuman actions and join the masses in their struggle as this is the only way you can live with peace and tranquility in the society”.
It also appealed people especially in and around airport road to make the resistance program a success, play freedom songs and hold protests along the road and wherever the members of the delegation go, receive them with slogans “Go India Go Back” and “We Want Freedom”. (GNS)
