Srinagar :Home Minister Rajnath Singh led All Party delegation to Kashmir which includes other BJP ministers Arun Jaitley and Jitendra Singh, comprises some other top parliamentarians who completely disagree with BJP’s Kashmir policy.
While the delegation comprises senior Congress leader and former J&K chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, JD-U leader Sharad Yadav, CPI leader D Raja, NCP's Tariq Anwar and Trinamool Congress' Saugata Roy, but there are some faces who all together have a different stance on Kashmir and Kashmiris have pinned high hopes on them.
People whether on the streets or in the offices or on the social sites, the hot debate is whether CPI-M general secretary Sitaram Yechury and AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi, break the ice and be able to put forth something really unexpected to roll out the carpet for fruitful dialogue.
"This Owaisi has been always speaking about the pain of Kashmiris. It will be his testing time as to what he has brought for Kashmiris. Will he be able to win our hearts," said Nisar Ahmed, a student, adding, in or outside the parliament, Owaisi always maintained a different stance on Kashmir.
The visit will take place on September 4 and 5.
The decision to send the all-party delegation was taken during an all-party meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month.
The Kashmir Valley has seen possibly the longest spell of protests for 54 days in which 69 people have lost their lives so far.
N K Premchandran (RSP), P Venugopal (AIADMK), Tiruchi Siva (DMK), Y B Subba (YSR-Cong), Jaiprakash Yadav (RJD), Dharamveer Gandhi (AAP) and Dushyant Chautala (RLD) are also in the team. BSP and Samajwadi Party have extended their support but have not been able to nominate any of their members. (PTK)
