Srinagar : Minister of State for Social Welfare, Asiea Naqash chaired a high level meeting of officers to review the working of various wings of Social Welfare Department here today.
Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare, Sarita Chouhan, Director Social Welfare Kashmir, Hashmat Ali and all District Social Welfare Officers of Kashmir division were present in this meeting.
The Minister received brief regarding the disbursement of pension under various schemes to elder persons, Women in distress, Widows and Specially challenged persons.
Asiea said through various social security schemes, like Asra, Ladli Beti and widow/old age/specially challenged person’s pension, the government wants to create a social security network for the underprivileged and the weaker sections of the society. She further stressed to create greater awareness among the masses about these schemes and facilitating them to join the schemes so that benefits reach the intended sections of the Society.
The Minister directed the officials to identify the actual beneficiaries under Laadli Beti and Aasra schemes, to proactively ensure adequate penetration so that positive disposition about the girl child is created across the valley especially in rural areas with low sex ratio and all low income families, widows and destitute are insured in the event of death or disability of the bread winner.
The Minister also directed to frame a committee which will conduct regular field visits.
