SRINAGAR: Army and police Monday morning raided the Ganavpora village of Balpora area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district and dismantled and set ablaze the stage that was set up for a pro-freedom assembly in the village.
The local correspondent reports said that the people had started to assemble, however, the army from nearby RR camp along with police barged into the ground that was set to host the pro-freedom assembly today and set ablaze the stage.
The local pro-freedom leaders had given a Ganavpora Chalo call. The pro-freedom rallies and assemblies have become a trend in south Kashmir after the rebel commander Burhan Wani’s killing.
The reports added that the forces seized the equipment like mic, loudspeakers and generators.
The locals accused that the forces harassed and thrashed the people who had assembled in the ground. The forces fired tear-gas to quell the people.
