SRINAGAR: Former interlocutor M.M.Ansari Thursday said that Kashmir is not managed democratically that is why government forces and local police are violating human rights. He said that in the garb of draconian laws government forces are playing with the innocent lives in Kashmir.
“If Government of India thinks that this current uprising will end and situation will normalize after some days then it is mistaken. The current uprising is totally different from 2010 uprising. Even if government will succeed to bring life on track through force, it will be on temporary basis and not permanently, while the past records have proven that Kashmir can erupt anytime,” Ansari told news agency CNS over phone from New Delhi.
Expressing anguish over the unabated civilian killings, Ansari said that the fresh killing of a lecture can’t be justified. “What Government of India wants to achieve and prove by killing innocent civilians? If it continues to encourage people responsible for such killings, it will have disastrous consequences,” he said.
Ansari lamented that the recommendations made by the interlocutors in 2010 were not implemented and put in cold storage. “Neither the then State Government nor the Central Government showed any interest to implement those recommendations,” he said and added that Government of India left no stone unturned in eroding the autonomy and special status of Jammu and Kashmir from last 60 years.
Responding to a question, Ansari said that the only way out for the Government is to reach out to the youth of Kashmir who are the custodian of the state. “Instead of blinding them and curtailing their rights, the government should listen to them. It should reach out to the separatist leaders to sort out the issue,” he said. (CNS)
