Srinagar: Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) general secretary Moulana Abdullah Tari was arrested during a night raid on Thursday. The party has strongly condemned the police action.
In a statement issued to press, a DFP spokesperson said that police by arresting an 80-year-old person and a religious scholar has made it clear that there is no age bar in arresting the people.
“Such tactics won’t break our resolve but we will continue our struggle for freedom,” he said, and condemned the arrest spree across the State saying, “The so-called champions of democracy by resorting to such mean acts exposed themselves”.
“What happened to PDP’s slogans of ‘Goli Ke Badle Boli (Talks for bullets)’ and ‘Khayalaat Ki Jung (Ideological war) through which the party mislead the masses,” he said.
Terming PDP as “opportunistic”, the spokesperson said the party’s claims of democracy and humanity are the biggest lies of this century.
He also lamented the “unsympathetic” attitude of world organisations towards the grave situation in Kashmir where there forces rule the roost.
The spokesperson said forces are responsible for the death of a woman in Nundreshi Colony, Bemina saying the black acts of black laws like AFSPA are hidden from none. He expressed grief over the loss of life.
