Srinagar: Amid restrictions, hundreds of people offered congregational Zuhr prayers on road in Budgam town on Wednesday.
The prayers were led by senior Hurriyat leader and president Anjuman-e-Sharie Shiayan Aga Syed Hasan Al-Musawi .
Soon after the afternoon prayers ended, the congregation turned into a pro-freedom rally.
Police had blocked the key road and link roads leading towards the residence of Aga Syed Hasan but he managed to come out and lead prayers and the protest.
Speaking on the occasion, Aga Hasan condemned the civilian killings and called for an end to the bloodshed. He said an “unprecedented repression” by the government forces will have serious ramifications.
“There is an urgent need to find a political solution to the Kashmir issue before it is too late,” he said adding government forces should be barred from using excessive force on protestors and refrain from shedding more human blood. He also called for a ban on the use of pellet guns.
“Kashmir is an issue accepted by International community and even by the United Nations. India is suppressing the voice and rights of people of Kashmir through military might. The whole Kashmir nation demands plebiscite which India is denying to them. The international community must step in and help people of Kashmir in the nick of the time,” Aga Hasan said.
