SRINAGAR:Soon after the Prime Minister Narendra Modi broke silence over on-going mass uprising in Kashmir, opposition parties in Jammu and Kashmir taook a dig at PM, saying, “only utterance would not work.”
They said that the invocation of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Jamhooriyat and Insaaniyat (Democracy and Humanity) have been confined to a ‘phrase.’
Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took a dig at Prime Minister by saying that development alone wouldn’t solve the Kashmir issue.
Reacting to a tweet by the PMO, Omar wrote: “Here in lies the crux of the problem – the unwillingness to accept that development doesn’t solve all problems.”
“Be it the J&K Government under Mehbooba Mufti or the Central Government, we are finding solution to all problems through development: PM,” PMO had said in a Tweet.
State Congress Committee Chief, G A Mir said, “Killing innocent people and imposing indefinite curfew in Kashmir is in no sense Insaaniyat and Jamhooriyat (Democracy and Humanity.)”
He said that people of Kashmir have not seen any ray of democracy and humanity on ground as claimed by BJP.
“It is better to implement the principles of democracy and humanity on ground than uttering the phrases in public rallies,” he added.
“Modi Ji should have revealed agenda of alliance by taking people of Kashmir in confidence but unfortunately the people of state has again been deceived. Nothing is being done on ground to console the people. Even, the mourning of slain youth is banned,” he said.
He said that it is unfortunate that Prime Minister spoke over the Kashmir situation after 32 days and failed to utter a single word over civilian killings.
“If some people are hurting great land of Kashmir then Modi’s government should at least discuss the present unrest, which everybody demand,” he said.
National Conference’s provisional president, Nasir Aslam Wani said, “mere words can’t prove anything. They should at least do something on ground.”
Wani said that Government of India should initiate a meaningful dialogue with all stakeholders of Kashmir.
“Kashmir issue is not any developmental issue but a political issue and should be addressed politically. People of Kashmir are not on roads for the development purposes,” he said.
He said that it is unfortunate that PM didn’t speak even a single word over the killing of civilians in Kashmir and said that they hope that PM will do something now for Kashmir.
“Government in Delhi as well as in the state should immediately stop excessive use of force, pellet guns against the protesters and should also stop the arrest spree in Kashmir,” he demanded.
People’s Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA Khan Sahib, hakim Muhammad Yasin said that they have been listening the same things from past several years now it is a time to show something on ground.
He said, “if Modi Ji is claiming that his government is following Jamhooriyat and Insaaniyat then where is Insaaniyat (Humanity). Let they do something practically over it which will be visible to all.”
