Srinagar: A demonstration of Muslim unity was witnessed Sunday evening amid unabated unrest sweeping Kashmir when thousands of Sunni and Shia Muslims offered joint prayers here and then marched together chanting slogans for Kashmir's Azadi.
Thousands from both communities offered Maghrib prayers together at Shia stronghold of Hassanabad in the old city and later marched upto Nigeen via Ranger Stop in a procession.
Worshippers prayeed for those killed in the ongoing unrest, eyewitnesses said, adding the unity march taken out after prayers swelled by the time it reached Saida Kadal—another Shia bastion.
