Srinagar: Accusing main opposition National Conference of being involved in instigating stone-pelting, senior Peoples Democratic Party Minister Imran Raza Ansari Monday said that most of the stone-pelters apprehended by police are NC workers.
Terming the present situation as one of the testing times for Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Ansari said that Government has his fingers crossed and was making every attempt administratively and politically to prevent any further loss of life.
NC leaders are approaching police stations seeking the release of stone-pelters. Police have arrested youth from Hajin, Sumbal, Naidkhai and other areas on charges of stone-pelting and after investigation it was proved they were the active workers of a National Conference leader, he said adding that those who are indulging in petty political machinations to disturb peace will face the music.
“We have credible reports that kins of senior National Conference leaders are on the roads in parts of Kashmir instigating the mob,” he said.
He said that, we have lost 26 years and a complete generation has grown under the shadow of the gun and we cannot allow it to go on,” Ansari said and appealed youth to refrain from violence.
This is the season for development and if we will lose it, funds will get diverted to Jammu. Our government humbly appeals to people to play their role in restoring normalcy in the Valley, he said.
