Srinagar: Despite a government directive to reopen educational institutions of the valley after an extended summer vacation, educational institutions in curfew bound Srinagar Monday wore a deserted look.
Though there was a skeletal movement onroads in civil lines area and in some central and north Kashmir towns yet none of the educational institutions saw any attendance.
A lone principal, however, turned up to a Srinagar government college with almost all other educational institutions completely shut.
She said the attendance of the staff was between 20 to 25 percent only. Many have left just now as it wouldnt have been safe for them to leave the school too late, said Professor Shaheen Altaf.
Several other teachers at various other schools in the city said that they faced problems in curfew bound areas as the deployed cops, especially those from CRPF misbehaved with them.
Education Minister, Naeem Akhtar and government spokesperson, however, termed the attendance in the schools as respectable.
We had respectable attendance in Kupwara town and its villages, in Budgam too schools had opened, he claimed.
