Srinagar: Eight persons including a 15 year old boy and a woman got injured after forces fired pellets on protestors on Tuesday in South Kashmir.
A 61-year-old man died after he was caught in clashes at Eidgah in old city.
Eyewitnesses said that Mushtaq Ahmed of Rajouri Kadal, was driving his Scooty when he got caught in the middle of the protests amid shells and stones raining in the area.
He reportedly failed to control his vehicle and fell down due to which he sustained critical head injuries. He succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS, Soura.
Clashes erupted in Anantnag soon after curfew was lifted after 17 days of siege from the district today.
Reports said that soon after curfew was lifted, people at around 3 pm started taking out protest demonstrations.
In Malkhnag area of the district, forces fired pellets on protestors resulting in injuries to at least eight people. The injured were rushed to district hospital for treatment.
Reports also said that sporadic protests also erupted at Janglatmandi, Cheeni Chowk and other areas.
