Srinagar: A local court here on Saturday directed police to register a case against an Army officer for thrashing an advocate and his friends without any reason and rhyme in Pattan town of Baramulla district.
Advocate Muhammad Afzal Najar son of Ali Muhammad a resident of Wanigam Payeen Pattan had filed a complaint before the Judicial Magistrate 1st Class Pattan alleging that an Army party of Rashtriya Rifles (29RR) from Haiderbeigh Pattan headed by Commanding Officer A.P.Singh not only barged into their premises without any reason but also assaulted and thrashed him and his friends on July 16 this month.
Taking cognizance of the complaint, the court said that the accused Army officer has committed the cognizable offence punishable under various provisions of RPC. This court directs Station House Officer Kreeri Pattan to file a case against the accused Army officer and investigate the matter in accordance with law.
Meanwhile, Station House Officer Kreeri Police Station confirmed to CNS that they have registered an FIR vide number 65/2016 against the accused Army officer. (CNS)
