Srinagar: Defying curfew, thousands of people from different areas of Kashmir converged at Sharifabad village of Tral to pay obeisance to slain Hizb commander, Burhan Muzaffar Wani, on his fourth day (Chaharum) on Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses said that people in thousands from different hamlets including Charsoo, Barsoo, Pampore, Chechkoot, Larnoo, Noorpora, Awantipora converged at Sharifabad to offer Fatheh and express sympathies with the bereaved family. Administration had imposed curfew however, people defied it and arrived here, a said a local.
Due to lack of space, people later on assembled at Eidgah Tral where many elders addressed them. The speakers urged upon the people to maintain peace, however added that ongoing protests will continue till Kashmir issue is not resolved.
The centre of attraction on this occasion according to eyewitness was a 40 feet long colorful banner carrying the photograph of Burhan. Burhan- The Pride of Nation was inscribed on the banner and people adorned it on the gates of Burhans house.
The mourners also took out a huge rally and visited the house of another slain militant Parvez Ahmed at Noorpora Tral.
The town also witnesses clashes at different places including Lariyar, Navdal, Midoora and main chowk Tral.
