SRINAGAR: People have accused para-military Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for causing massive damage to private property across the length and breadth of Kashmir.
They claim that men in uniform thrash people without any reason and due to lack of control and accountability these men have resorted demeaning the prestige of people.
Local news agency, CNS quoting residents from over a dozen localities in North and south reported that CRPF personnel went on rampage and damaged the vehicles parked on roads as well as inside the residential houses. “The CRPF personnel damaged all the parked vehicles and also barged into the houses and beat up inmates, said a Doour, Tangmarg, resident. They seemed drunk who didn’t spare even kids and women. Whosoever tried to resist was ruthlessly beaten up. They beat up a little child, Syed Furqan to pulp.
A Kulgam resident said that that it has become a routine for the CRPF to cause massive damage to the property. CRPF men after the sun set go on rampage in different hamlets including Yaripora, Koimouh, Ashmouji, Bahibagh on daily basis. They thrash pedestrians and ransack houses, he said.
In Bandiporan according to some residents, CRPF men and Army have let loose a reign of terror in the adjoining hamlets of the district.
Locals from Ajar and Nowpora hamlets of the district alleged that these men have caused massive damage to property while they thrash people without any provocation. One feels insecure while crossing the road in presence of CRPF personnel and an Army officer known as Major Raghu. They stop you and thrash you without any reason, said a lady from the district.
In Sozeeth Narbal, locals alleged that CRPF men beat women and children after clashes.
A spokesperson CRPF, however, termed the allegation as baseless.
