SRINAGAR: Responding to an SOS about prevalent situation in Kashmir, Chief Ministers Adviser Prof Amitabh Mattoo on Tuesday asked the Chief Secretary BR Sharma and other senior officials to take remedial measures.
Officials said Prof Mattoo, presently out of station took serious note of the details of the SOS and sought desired results from the administration.
Posted by senior journalist Majid Hyderi, the SOS addressed to Prof Mattoo on Facebook said: As your Govt spokesman(Naeem Akhter) and others concerned are unwilling to take media queries, which at this point of time would pertain to humanitarian crises, you seem be the last hope to register SOS, lest more precious lives are lost.
It said: Even as medical emergency has been declared in the wake large crowds of wounded being rushed to Srinagar hospitals, not a single minister or official has bothered to visit the health care facilities.
While the hospitals are running short of essential medical supplies, they await standing instructions for procurement of the fresh stocks from open markets. (The only official who visited the hospitals is Dr Salim Ur Rehman but he has no role in GMC associated and the SKIMS, which are bearing the brunt of the situation.), said the SOS.
There is equally urgent need for hiring of medicos to extend support to doctors working here round-the-clock. If more CRPF can be imported to Kashmir, cant more doctors be brought in? Ophthalmology and orthopedic, CVTS are specialties where we need additional workforce, it added.
Seeking safe passage for ambulances, the SOS pointed out the four days on, the administrant was yet to issue curfew passes. On the other hand, it has been only the civilian locals, who have been lending all support to the wounded and their attendants at the hospitals and elsewhere, trying to provide everything from blood to medicines and food.
But movement of every Good Samaritan is vulnerable to attack by security forces as the authorities are yet to issue any Curfew Passes even after 96 odd hours of curfew.
