PULWAMA: Intense clashes erupted in South Kashmirs Pulwama after army brought down banners in Kareemabad area of the district.
Reports and witnesses said that locals had raised banners in honour of slain militants near Martyrs Graveyard Kareemabad.
Army men in a Casper came and brought down the banners inviting strong reaction from youth, a local said.
He added that the action by army resulted in stone pelting and later CRPF and police men responded with tear gas shelling and aerial firing.
Following unrest in Kareemabad, business men in main Pulwama Chowk brought down shutters and whole area observed shutdown while locals including men and women came out on roads.
