BANDIPORE: A woman and her paramour were arrested on Monday and with this police claimed to have solved a blind murder case of 35-year-old man in Hajin, Bandipore.
On Sunday (July 04), police station Hajin was informed that the body of one Fayaz Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Maqbool Dar of Vijipara Hajin was lying in the bathroom of his house.
A police party rushed to the spot and took the body in custody while the circumstantial evidence pointed out towards murder, a senior police officer said.
Accordingly a case under FIR No. 42/2016 u/s 302 RPC was registered and investigation launched, SSP Bandipore Mumtaz Ahmad said.
The fresh injury marks were found on his neck and blood was oozing from his mouth which indicated that the incident was fresh.
A Special Investigation team (SIT) headed by SDPO Sumbal Rashid Akbar assisted by SHO Hajin, Parvaiz Ahmad was formed under the overall supervision of SSP Bandipore to crack the case at the earliest, the officer said.
During the course of investigation wife of the deceaseds namely Zamrooda Begium was questioned about the murder of her husband, she initially denied having any knowledge about the incident, the officer said.
She was further questioned about her phone number and in reply she stated that she does not have any mobile phone from last two years. But the claim was contested by her teenaged children, who stated that their mother Zamrooda has one mobile phone in her possession and was using the same covertly, the officer said. Police grew suspicious of her involvement in the crime due to misleading details she was giving.
The investigation further revealed that the deceased had doubts on her wife of having illicit relationship with one Showkat Ahmad Bhat S/o Asadullah R/O Kumina Baharabad Hajin due to which differences had crept in between the couple, the officer said.
Accordingly the suspect Showkat was taken into police custody for questioning. During the interrogation he disclosed that he had affairs with the wife of the deceased and both had grown close to each other from the past few years, the officer said.
“Further interrogation revealed that Zamrooda and Showkat hatched a criminal conspiracy to eliminate Fayaz Dar on Shab-e-Qadr when mostly people are away in mosques for night long prayers, police said.
Zamrooda and Showkat communicated on phone at about 7:30 P.M, with Zamrooda asking Showkat to come to her house in the night. At about 10.30 P.M Showkat entered the house through a window, Zamrooda had kept open to let him in. They went to the room where Fayaz had retired and chocked him to death while he was asleep, the officer said.
Investigation revealed that the accused, Showkat held Fayaz by his hands and sat on his chest while Zamrooda pressed tightly on the neck until her husband took the last breath, the officer said.
Police has formally arrested both Zamrooda and Showkat Bhat and registered a case under FIR Number 42/ 2016 in this regard.
