SRINAGAR: Advisor to Chief Minister, Prof Amitabh Mattoo has said that the youth have a pivotal role in carrying forward the process of peace as well as exercising participatory role in the developmental agenda of the State.
The Advisor was interacting with a group of students at his Gogji Bagh residence here today.
Prof. Mattoo said that the role of the youth has been acknowledged globally for bringing transformation in the society and also ensuring eradication of various prevalent social evils. He said that their role is manifold in the State provided they effectively channelize their energies in bringing about socio-economic transformation of the State, which has been through turbulent time in the recent past.
The Advisor told the students that they have to shoulder the responsibility of leadership in various social spheres in future and it was time for them to devote their time properly to develop the qualities of leadership in them. He said that the government has undertaken several initiatives in different sectors which are youth centric and would ensure their Educational, Economical and Social empowerment as the present coalition is committed to their betterment.
Prof Mattoo further asked the youth to contribute in the implementation of the government initiatives and in order to exhibit participatory role in the day to day governance, so that a sense of responsibility towards society also gets instilled in them.
