Srinagar: Immediately after its recent three day traffic awareness and counseling campaign to sensitize bike riders to adopt safety measures while riding, Traffic Police City Srinagar launched a fresh 02-day special drive against bike riders at vantage crossings viz. Hyderpora, Fire Service, Jehangir Chowk, Radio Kashmir besides Boulevard and apprehended 725 violators for not using crash helmets, resorting to Double Pillion and use of mobile phone while riding.
In a statement issued to KNS, traffic police department said that 127 two wheelers vehicles were also seized.
During the drive the apprehended bikers were counseled on spot by Traffic Officersabout the consequences of traffic accidents in absence of safety norms.
Traffic Police is committed to continue such drives and appeal two wheeler riders to adopt safety measures viz. use of Crash helmet by both the rider and the pillion, to avoid double pillion, to avoid use of mobile phone while riding. Besides parents are advised not to allow their minor kids to ride two wheelers and ensure their safety. (KNS)
