Srinagar: Minister for Revenue and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Ahmad Bukhari today said that Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, has reported that on the intervening night of 23 and 24 February 2016, 41 commercial assets and shops at main market Uri were gutted due to accidental fire.
The Minister was replying to a Calling Attention Notice moved by Mr Mohammad Shafi in Legislative Assembly today. The Minister said that out of these gutted structures 22 structures were un-insured and 19 were insured.
He said that relief under SDRF was not paid to the fire sufferers as the same is not covered under State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) norms in vogue. However, he said that these cases can be considered under Chief Ministers Relief Fund (CMRF).
The Minister said that Deputy Commissioner Baramulla has accordingly recommended the case of the fire sufferers for sanction of special relief package by the Government in favour of un-insured fire sufferers which is under examination by the Financial Commissioner Revenue. (PTK)
