SRINAGAR: Director General Department Of Youth Services & Sports Jahangir Mir Monday said that the newly launched Centrally Sponsored Scheme Khelo India will be soon launched, according to a statement from media department of DYSS.
The statement said that DYSSOs were asked to prepare calendar for the implementation of the scheme.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, GOI has rechristened Rajiv Ghandhi Khel Abhiyan as Khelo India. Mass participation of Youth in Annual Sports Competitions through a structured competition, identification of talent, guidance and nurturing of talent through existing sports academies and new setup either by the Central Government or State Government or in PPP mode and Creation of sports infrastructure at mafussil, Tehsil, District, State level, etc are the basic attractions of this scheme, said Mir about the scheme.
He said this while reviewing ongoing sports activities at Zonal/ District level in all the Districts of Kashmir Division in a meeting with all the District Youth Services and Sports officers of Kashmir Division.
According to the statement, Mir was briefed about the ongoing sports activities in various Districts of the region by the concerned district officers. DG Sports expressed his happiness on the huge participation of student players in various games and sports despite of hot weather conditions and sensitiveness attached with the holy month of Ramadan.
He, however, stressed for following the already devised annual sports calendar in letter and spirit.
Jahangir Mir also expressed his satisfaction over the recently held Felicitation Function of Youth Services & Sports Department wherein 55 extraordinary student players who had participated at the national were felicitated with the sports scholarships.
He stated that such felicitations shall continue in future as well since Sports Persons get encouraged with such gestures and hence they do better in their field of activity.
Besides others Joint Director Kashmir YS&S Bashir Ahmed, JD Jammu Madan Lal, Deputy Director Central YS&S Haji Mirza Hussain, and other senior officials of the Department were present in the meeting.
