Srinagar: The President, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Inc), Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, has expressed joy and satisfaction over having succeeded in getting the Geographical Indication Certificate of Kashmir Hand Knotted carpet after six years continuous hard work put in alongside Indian Institute of Carpet Technology and Meeras Carpet weavers.
In a statement issued here, Wani said that the Geographical Indication (GI) Certification shall add both value and credibility to our carpets in the domestic and international markets and help its increased take off in the Export market which in turn will benefit our artisans and overall economy of the State.
The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry expects the Carpet manufacturers make every effort to ensure their products conform to the Geographical Indication Certification standards steadily and for all times to come, he said.
