Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leaders and activists today organized various protests throughout the valley against construction of separate settlement colonies in the name of Kashmiri Pandits, separate colonies for ex-army men.
Following the joint program announced by JKLF, Hurriyat (G) and Hurriyat (M), JKLF leaders and activists led by vice chairman advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt staged a peaceful protest sit-in near Budshah Chowk Lal Chowk. Besides JKLF leaders and activists a large number of people also joined this protest sit-in, the party said in a statement issued here.
With play cards in their hands, the participants of the protest sit-in raised slogans against conspiratorial plots of India and its Kashmiri stooges especially proposed construction of separate colonies for Pandits, ex-army men, industrial policy, arrests, raids and other oppressive measures including recent custodial killing of a young Kashmiri Tanveer Sultan Sheikh of Bemina.
In his address Butt said that todays joint protest program is against various conspiratorial designs of India and its stooges and also against oppression unleashed by police.
He said that so-called industries ministers statement has exposed their hypocritical politics and blatant lies that are only being spread to hoodwink public opinion and reduce public anger on these issues.
Butt said that all these conspiracies are being hatched by PDP/BJP coalition for implementation of RSS anti-Kashmir and anti-Muslim agenda and only goal of these conspiracies is to hurt Muslim majority character of Jammu Kashmir and turn majority into minority here. (PTK)
Sehrai Leads Joint Protest Against Separate Pandit Colonies
Srinagar: The planned set up of Pandit and Sainik colonies in Kashmir sparked protest demonstrations in different towns of Valley on Friday. The protests were held after Friday congregational prayers. Further, people across Kashmir prayed for Kashmiri prisoners. Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani had asked people to observe Friday as Solidarity with Kashmir Prisoner.
The call for protests against the establishment was given by Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik.
Senior resistance leader and deputy of Geelani, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai led a peaceful protest march at Hyderpora that was attended by hundreds of people.
Geelani remains under continuous house detention since he returned from New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Sehrai said, it is policy and plan of the Indian sponsored government to change the demography of Jammu and Kashmir. Sehrai is Secretary General of Geelani led Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir. The idea to create separate townships for Pandits across Kashmir Valley has borrowed by India from Zionist country Israel. It will be disastrous for us if we fail to stop the onslaught of the state government at this juncture.
The idea of separate colonies is aimed at to create states within state, he said.
On the occasion, Sehrai led prayers for the Kashmiri prisoners. Seeking release of all the detainees, the Hurriyat leader sought immediate release of youth arrested on Wednesday in Bemina area. Geelanis personal secretary, Peer Saifullah addressed the faithful in Jamia Masjid Hyderpora.
