SRINAGAR: National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah on Friday visited the residence of Late Ghulam Mohammad Guroo at Raj Bagh, Srinagar and expressed his solidarity with the bereaved family for their loss. Praying for peace to the departed soul, Omar Abdullah termed Guroo as an icon of Kashmirs spirit of selfless hospitality and courage.
Guroo Sahibs sacrifice in saving three tourists without caring for his own life and then also trying to save their belongings speaks volumes about his courage and honesty. It is individuals like Ghulam Mohammad Guroo who have defined Kashmirs trait of hospitality over centuries. His tale of courage and honour will go down in history as a testament to Kashmirs warmth and affection for our guests, Omar Abdullah said.
The NC Working President said Late Guroo had set an example to be followed across the country and the entire world at a time when people were driven by purely self-centered goals and ambitions. He sacrificed his life for his guests. Nothing could possibly be more honorable and noble, Omar Abdullah stated.
Omar Abdullah was accompanied by NC Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani who also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul. Late Ghulam Mohammad Guroo will be remembered for ages to come as an example of bravery and hospitality and we salute his courage and sacrifice, Wani said.
