BANGALORE: The 14th ‘Resistance International Film Festival’ (RIFF) is being held from September 23-30, 2016 in Iran. The goal of the festival, according to the organizers, is to create an atmosphere of dialogue in order to understand current human sufferings, and to share experiences and new ideas.
The Resistance Film Festival with the 34 years of history is the oldest film festival, founded by independent and revolutionary filmmakers of Iran that resulted in its being the most prestigious cultural-cinematic event in Iran during the last three decades and has been the birthplace of many stylish and well-known Iranian filmmakers.
“The RIFF tries to create a basis to discourse, communicate, thinking and synergy, as well as a network of the creative and truth-seeker filmmakers especially the independent anti-dominance and anti-Zionism ones around the world, while its primary goal is to pass this message to the world that creating beauty and humanity is only possible through kindness, friendship, company and empathy, organiezrs said in a statement to Trans Asia News.
“Most principal humanistic issues of the contemporary world and the vision of challenging topics, namely the International terrorism, hegemonic regime, brutal crimes of ISIS (Daesh) and other Takfiri and Salafi groups, the US police violence against the black people, Mena tragedy, etc. will be showcased during the festival”, it said.
This cultural-cinematic event, with the Our World is Beautiful slogan, strives for analyzing and evaluating the Disrupted Contemporary World and the chaotic situations of human beings, arisen from the domination of hegemonic regime, war and terrorism crisis, devastating greed of the International terrorism and the challenges in the Islamic World, such as the extremist Takfiri thoughts supported by Saudi Arabian government, with the cooperation of artists, thinker and independent filmmakers of the whole world.
This years RIFF is categorized in three sections of International Competition, Imad Mughniyeh Special Award and The Resistance Cinema in the World.
RIFF public relations office stated that since 14th RIFF call for entries opened, more than 600 films have been submitted so far.
Artists from 54 countries such as the US, England, France, Germany, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, South Korea, India, Turkey, Canada, Egypt, Spain, Iraq, Russia, and Indonesia have sent their features, shorts, documentaries and animations to the festival office.
Along with the aforementioned sections, RIFF organizers are planning to hold events, panels and workshops relevant to festival topics.
14th RIFF is addressing the most recent national and international topics and issues and 2016 festival has introduced different topics in more than 30 categories and subcategories.
