SRINAGAR:- Minister for Agriculture Production, Mr Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today informed the House that crop loss of Rs 1568 crore was assessed by the Department of Revenue for Horticulture sector due to incessant rains and floods of September 2014.
Replying to a question by Muhammad Akbar Lone, the Minister informed that 50 per cent compensation of Rs 784 crore was recommended by the Revenue Department and was included in memorandum submitted to the Central Government but funds werent received.
The Minister said that a joint survey was conducted by the field functionaries of Horticulture and Revenue officials to assess the losses. He said that under PMs package Rs 500 crore would be spent on Horticulture sector in the state. He said moreover the Government would take steps for rejuvenation of flood affected and old orchards in the state.
