Srinagar:-Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has exhorted upon the government to ensure smooth supply of ration, sugar and gas besides availability of power, drinking water and health services.
Senior party leader and General Secretary Nizamudin Bhat while interacting with various public deputations said that deputy commissioners of all Districts will have to be made accountable in case of any failure in providing basic services and supplies to a common man.
Bhat said that there are some elements in core departments looking after essential services who play spoilers role and bring bad name to government. He said any complaints regarding shortage of essential commodities, variations in rates and quantity are arising out of misdeeds of unchecked elements who either work at the behest of vested interest or have a personal agenda to fulfill.
Bhat said that while the officers at district level of CAPD, Power, PHE and Health are responsible for a default at any level below them, it is the deputy commissioner who should ensure effective working and appropriate delivery.
He said that it is high time that agenda of government for good governance reaches gross root and masses are benefited. He expressed the view that DDCs of administrative experience, integrity and will can alone exercise legitimate authority for people friendly programmes and added that government should strengthen the DDCs institution by picking up the best out of administrative services for the job.
