Srinagar:- Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq Khan today informed the House that district Shopian is a rich and quality fruit producing belt, which plays an important role in State economy.
Replying to a question by Advocate Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, the Minister said that one Soil Testing Laboratory has been establishing by Agriculture Production Department and made functional during February 2016. He said that a mobile soil testing laboratory has been stationed at Anantnag with the responsibility to cater to the demands of South Kashmir districts including Shopian.
The Minister said a detailed project report for establishment of pesticides testing laboratory has been received which has been posed for funding to Planning, Development and Monitoring Department.
The Minister further said that a leaf analysis laboratory functioning at divisional level in Srinagar, also caters to the demand of orchardists of Kashmir division including district Shopian.
