Kupwara: An honorary ceremony was Thursday held at Government High School Muqam-i-Shahwali to felicitate Abdul Ahad who is retiring as headmaster on superannuation.
Abdul Ahad Hajam who is due to retire by the end of this month had joined the profession on June 03, 1980. The farewell ceremony was proponed in view of advent of the holy month of Ramadhan.
Chief Education Officer Farooq Ahmad Dar lauded the efforts of outgoing headmaster for enhancing the standard of education in the frontier district. “The results of the institution have been outstanding during his stint as headmaster,” he said while speaking on the occasion.
The other speakers unequivocally hailed the illustrious career of the outgoing headmaster for his efforts while braving the odds from time to time.
Abdul Ahad Hajam on the occasion impressed for an overhaul of education system.
Recounting his experience as headmaster of the institution he said: “The institution was upgraded in the year 2008 during my tenure as the headmaster. We had a plethora of problems in the institution but I must salute my sub-ordinates for their compassion and dedication. The results of last seven years bear testimony to the fact that our joint efforts paid off.
Asking for teacher community to uphold norms and ethics, he said that the society was going through a transitory phase where the stakes are high.
It is our duty to act as saviours of the society to weed out the diverse menaces from the society”, he added.
Various cultural programmes were performed by the school children to lighten the mood of the audience. Emotional scenes were witnessed towards the end of the ceremony.

Mehraj-ud-Din Shah, (retired master) Habibullah Shah, Sarpanch Halqa Muqam-i-Shahwali Mohammad Shafi Mir.
