Srinagar: Terming the budget presented by Finance Minister, Dr Haseeb A Drabu as Nagpuri script to meet RSS agenda, the Kashmir Traders and Manufactures Federation (KTMF) President Haji, Mohammad Yasin Khan on Thursday said the budget would deprive traders of their livelihood and equally suck blood of people in the state of Jammu and Kashmir through undue inflation.
The atrocious hike in tax on commodities like readymade garments, hosiery, mobile telephony and related goods is a systematic game plan to deprive thousands of people into this trade of their livelihood. And this seems to be another phase of implementation of RSS agenda to economically weaken the people of this state who have already suffered a lot in the last over two decades of conflict, Khan said adding that this was a reason why shutdown call has been given for June 4.
Appealing the business fraternity to make the strike call a success, the KTMF President said since last year as the Finance Minister, has only been executing agenda which ends up as anti-people.
Last year, he outright rejected the Rs 44,000 Crore demand for revival of life in Kashmir post floods only to leave the flood-victims, particularly trade community, deprived of their right to decent rehabilitation, whereas in the second innings he has pushed to economy of the state to worst ever systematic crises, Khan said.
Two years on, when Kashmir is struggling for revival of economy post floods, this Budget will only prove last nail in the coffin of the dying trade community, Khan said this all is nothing but part of a game plan to dis-empower us on all fronts.
He said the hike of tax by upto 15 percent will only leave the trade unviable. Leave apart allegations of taking kickbacks from Multi National Companies, who will obviously get benefitted, Khan said Drabus budget deserves all appreciation from online shopping sites like Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal to name a few.
While the taxation of upto 15 % will make our sales unviable on sale counters, only online shopping firms are likely to get benefitted as more and more people will try to buy comparatively cheaper products online, Khan said.
This budget has put us in a do or die situation because acceptance to this diktat will mean death of our business activities, and this we wont tolerate till our last breath, Khan said.
Khan who also heads the Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) said the business community was not deriving pleasure out of issuance of such statements but that the government is forcing us to do so through anti-people conspiracies. We want to do our business and contribute towards the society but for the past two months developments in the government are often leaving us with no options but to spend most of our resources and energy to register our protests, he clarified.
He said it was high time for Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to realize that the Finance Minister has been habitual of introducing controversial and anti-people norms which only find parallels in the autocratic and despotic regimes in the history of mankind.
Chief Minister must realize that such misadventures are taking peace hostage, something which no peace-loving community will toe line with. She must personally intervene and get all the anti-people orders, executed in the recent past evoked, Khan said.
Meanwhile Khan asked the traders to make the hartal call a success and stage peaceful demonstrations at their respective district headquarters.
