SRINAGAR: Leading travel agents from Kashmir and many other organizations including police and media were honoured at a prestigious awards ceremony organised by Vivanta here on Saturday.
The glitzy ceremony that coincided with Vivanta’s completing five years in the hotel business in Kashmir, took place in front of a packed audience of tour operators, hoteliers, travel agencies, media persons and government officials from around the Kashmir.
Mohammad Altaf Guna and Manzoor Ahmad Guna who are the co-owners of the Hotel, gave away awards to top the top performers of the year 2015.
Dastan Tours and Travels, Shangloo Travels Pvt Ltd and Mascot Travels bagged the first three positions in the Top Performers FIT/ Groups Category Award at the Vivintas annual travel awards.
Elizebeth Tours and Travels, Mazda Travels, Shiraz Travels, Nature Expeditions, Earth Explorers, Peakmark Adventures and Shah who are the members of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), were among the award winners.
Explore India Journeys were praised for tapping Canadian market while Shangloo Travels were awarded in recognition of their efforts in attracting travellers from Far East and Distant Holidays finished third which had attracted tourists from Gulf.
Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya who is the Chairman J&K Hoteliers Club, received the Dynamic Hospitality Development award while Nasir Shah of CNE Solidarity Tourism Award, Iqbal Bakshi of Shiraz Travels won High-end Banquet Maximisation award and Khawar Bhat was given award for Bollywood Films Promotion.
Various government departments, too, were felicitated at the award distribution ceremony. J&K Tourism, LAWDA, Wildlife Department, Golf Tourism, Royal Springs Golf Course, SKICC, Floriculture Department and J&K Police were given awards for their performance.
Media outlets, Greater Kashmir, Rising Kashmir and Kashmir Observer, were also honoured with citations and trophies for prompting various Vivinta-sponsored events.
Vivanta has been on the forefront of promoting Kashmir with FAM tours throughout the country and abroad. It held tours for travel and tour operators from Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai. It also arranged Media FAM tour from Britain and Germany in September 2012. It also hosted Belgium Press Trip in May 2014, Indonesian FAM trip in September 2013.
