Srinagar: Mewar University of Rajhstan Saturday claimed that the hundreds of Kashmiri students studying at the University under Prime Ministers Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) are safe and secure in every way and parents need not to worry about them. The officials of the University who organized a programme at SKICC Srinagar here said that unlike other universities of India they never barred any Kashmiri student from attending the classes despite the fact that Government of India did not clear the dues of these students under the PMSSS.
Under PMSSS, Human Resource Development Ministry is ought to bear the expenses of any students, but in case of Kashmri students, the Ministry wasted a lot of time in this regard forcing colleges and universities to show door to these students. But the Mewar University didnt follow this policy but allowed students to attend classes and appear in exams. We allowed these students to complete their degrees. Kashmir students studying at the University are witness to this fact that University management always ensured their security and conducive atmosphere for education, Chairman Mewar University Ashok Kumar Gadia told reporters.
Gadia according to local news agency CNS said that MHRD, IMC and AICTE authorities are denying the scholarships of hundreds of Kashmiri students for irrelevant reasons. He said under PMSSS even a student with less percentage of marks is entitled for the scholarship but the authorities citing different reasons are barring students to avail the benefits under this scheme.
Denying scholarship on the basis of percentage of marks is an afterthought, malafide and militate against the basic scheme, he said adding that under PMSSS students from Kashmir were denied the basic benefits. (CNS)
