Srinagar: The Minister of State for Housing& Urban development, Ms Asiea Naqash today said the General Bus Stand Batamaloo will be shifted to Parimpora to minimize traffic congestion in the city.
Ms Asiea Naqash was replying to a question in the Legislative Council raised by Mr. Mohammad Khursheed Alam.
She said the decision was taken in a meeting by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir on June 30, 2015.
The Minister further said that North bound traffic will be shifted from the General Bus Stand Batamaloo to Truck Terminal Parimpora in order to decongest the area from mass traffic congestion.
She said the interconnectivity transportation of the city will remain functional from the said Bus Stand therefore by shifting of North Bound Traffic to Parimpora will not affect the economic/commercial activities of the area. Since the central traffic will operate from the bus stand the economic interests of the shopkeepers and vendors will not get affected, she added.
