Kupwara: Army on Thursday claimed that it foiled an infiltration bid and in the process killed two militants while launching a combing operation across the border in Naugam sector of north Kashmirs Kupwara district.
Troops guarding the Line of Control (LoC) intercepted a group of five to six militants, who were trying to sneak in near Toot Mari Gali in Naugam sector early morning on Thursday, Srinagar based Army spokesperson Colonel NN Joshi told a local news agency. During the exchange of fire two militants were killed while operation is going on to neutralize the others.
He said the troops of 35 Rashtriya Rifles challenged the infiltrating militants who opened fire, triggering a gunbattle between the two sides. The bodies of two militants have been recovered so for, he added.
