SRINAGAR:- Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Public Works, Mr. A. R. Veeri, today informed the House that 2.35 lakh high density fruit plants have been grown in Horticulture Development farm at Zainapora and distributed among the farmers during the last two years. He added that 1.62 lakh imported root stocks have been planted and kept under quarantine conditions at the farm for propagation and multiplication.
Replying to a question by Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Mir in Legislative Assembly, the Minister said that Zainapora Advanced Centre for Horticulture Development will be the major centre for propagation and distribution of high density planting and root stock material and will also cater to quarantine requirements of future imported root stocks and plants besides part of it would be used for demonstration of high density plantation.
The Minister said that precious and valuable plant material and root stocks of various kinds and varieties imported from Bulgaria, USA, Armenia and CITH have been planted in Zainapora horticulture farm. He said the plant material and clonal root stock are being propagated and multiplied on scientific lines at this farm and distributed among the farming community of the State to increase productivity for realizing better returns.
