Youth represent and occupy the most dynamic segment in the demographics of the state and presumably forecast the future potential and capability of the nation. For a nation upholds and cherishes its existence and survival, strength and self obsession, unity and integrity, wealth and resources stay intact forever. The nation which doesnt groom and shape their youth want not to be a nation tomorrow. Large land masses encapsulating some population claims to have a vision and capability to surface as a nation. These claims are made out of a look and a notice over the resources the territory encompasses, yet all the assertions of emerging as a nation turnout to be hoax and bald. The dibs which are made with the look at the potential of the human resource has greater hit ratio. And this potential lies underneath the enlightened youth.
The vision of the states lies in the hands of its youth and Kashmir being no exception to it. Our youth are enthusiastic and in place towering and tremendous ambitions. It will merely be the drainage and wastage of the human resources if opportunities to showcase and exercise their talent are marred or made selective. In both cases future of the Kashmir is on the whole is at stake. Time and again, it has been proved that there is no dearth of talent and intelligence among the youth of Kashmir. Our boys have won acknowledgment in various runs and competitions. Be it sports, administration, engineering, research, medicine or literature; havent they brought us laurels? Despite all these feathers in our cap, there is a feeling of deprivation in youngsters. These feelings are consequential to both – the external and internal factors, at the receiving end of which Kashmir in specific and youth in general are at mutual loss. Kashmir in future will lack the skilled human resource and young talent couldnt take off. Even if it does, it will succumb due to lack of support and sympathy!
Kashmir being the conflict hit state and this nature hampers and halts the young dreams to carve a space in reality. And owing to it, many opportunities are not availed to the local masses. Nobody can deny about the lack of infrastructure and corporate. Consequential to which, local youth knowledge is not synchronised with the latest turnouts in the technology and the corporate. This lag yields to the lowest career opportunities and students here have to pass their capability test with flying colours all against the odds. They have to overdo the job just to break the stereotype that they cant. And once someone is certified with a feat, internal critics leave no stone unturned to malign the personality and the pride. In Kashmir, one is overtaken as a collaborator of occupation if he won admiration from the central govt of India.
Shah Faisal topped elite UPSC examination; externally all the pre-assumptions hold against the Kashmirs faced a brutal axe. But internally he was not spared of being a collaborator of the subjugating system, no matter how important his service for people of Kashmir turned out to be. Parvez Rasool; the only acclaimed cricketer from the valley seems no exception in the way he is accepted in his home state. Intellectuals of Kashmir suggest the bright minded students not to join and be the part of the administration. Instead they are further requested to raise the anti-occupation (pro Kashmiri) voices internationally and avail the international platform to their best utilization of talent. Accordingly as per them, the local talent will aid and serve the Kashmir cause. However intellectuals must agree that it is not every ones cup of tea to bear the foreign expenses of study. You (intellectuals) are busy to diverge the youth away from administration when a local boy, Athar Amir tops UPSC round again. This is shear ignorance? And hence the real talent and asset of Kashmir is caged between the stereotype and ignorance. Amid all this local youth is in dilemma of thoughts over the choice of career. Civil society needs to answer. What is the role of youth in this scenario? Should we be busy pelting stones? Or enjoy ourselves being marginalized and victims?
