Srinagar: Defying Government orders Hattrick Public School at Zakura Srinagar has been reportedly forcing parents to buy school uniforms from a selected shop and ironically the shop is run by the wife of the proprietor of the school. Anxious parents have written to the Chairman Fee Fixation Committee and State Education Minister about their helplessness in this regard.
Dozens of parents whose kids study at Hattrick Public School told CNS that they fail to understand why are being forced to purchase the school uniform at a particular shop that too on exorbitant rates. The wife of the proprietor of the school is running a boutique cum garments shops at Jawahar Nagar locality. The school authorities have given us clear cut instructions to purchase the school uniforms from the boutique cum garment shop. Even Harrods a garment shop at Regal Chowk who is manufacturer has informed us that school proprietor has prohibited them to sell these uniforms in open market, the aggrieved parents said.
From Ahmed Nagar I visited Jawahar Nagar to purchase uniform for my kids. The shirt that is available in the open market for Rs 500 is being sold at Rs 1000/ at the designated shop. This is an open loot, said a father of the school student.
Pertinently, a Government circular states that the schools cannot indulge in any commercial activity or sell books, uniforms and other school-related paraphernalia on the campus and neither should they direct parents to a particular shop. Instead they should display a list of prescribed books and uniform on the notice board.
We have already informed the authorities about the highhandedness of the school. Vice Principal of the School refused to talk about the issue while Organization Head Mr Bashir Ahmed said that they are not forcing parents but has given them an option that they can buy the uniform from the Jawahar Nagar based shop. We have given parents a choice and are not compelling them to do so, he claimed. (CNS)
