Srinagar: A week after the body of a Kangan youth was recovered from a Nallah, body of a young girl was Wednesday found in the same canal raising questions about their mysterious deaths.
According to the sources, the two were in a love affair and were planning to marry but the girls parents were against it.
The lovers, according to the sources, fled from their homes, however, could not be traced from March 26.
Body of a youth who was missing since 26th of March was recovered from a power canal in Kangan area of Ganderbal district on Sunday, police said.
They said the youth Aijaz Ahmed Lone son of Ghulam Ahmed Lone resident of Wuddar Kangan was missing since 26th March from his home.
There was a case with FIR under section 366 RPC, regarding the kidnapping of a girl registered against him (Aijaz) at police station Kangan, however he had gone missing since the FIR against him was registered, SHO Raees Hassan had said.
The family of the victim has sought a probe into the death of the youth. We urge the police to thoroughly investigate the death, a relative of the deceased said. Whosoever is involved in his death should be punished.
The body of the youth was, according to the sources, tied with stones and ropes when it was retrieved from the canal last week.
The body the girl was also found in the same canal.
Police have registered a case and started further investigation into the matter.
