Srinagar: The BJP Central leadership has initiated the process to resolve the issue with Sajad Lone, who is yet to resume the charge of Social Welfare Department.
Lone, the Peoples Conference chairman, an ally of the BJP according to reports is unhappy with allocation of the Social Welfare portfolio and has not assumed the charge despite passing of five weeks since the PDP-BJP government led by Mehbooba Mufti took over the government in the state.
Senior Spokesperson BJP Arun Gupta said the party Centre leadership was holding negotiations with Sajad Lone to resolve the issue. The talks are going on at the Centre level with him and we hope the issue will be solved very soon, Gupta said.
After meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, Sajad had decided to work closely with the BJP and called Modi his big brother.
But the party at the state level has failed to address the grievances of Sajad. Sajad is these days camping in New Delhi and according to sources met various top BJP leaders and communicated his grievances to them.
Sources said the Centre leadership of the BJP has asked party General Secretary Ram Madhav to look why Sajad was not assuming the charge. After which Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh was asked by Madhav to resolve the matter at the earliest.
The BJP had been facing embarrassment for its failure to properly accommodate its only ally in Kashmir.
According to sources, the BJP may offer Sajad Science and Technology Department in addition to Social Welfare Department.
