SSM launches School of Fashion and Interior Design

Srinagar : In pursuit of learning new skills and taking the rich Kashmiri culture to new heights, SSM group of colleges Pattan, launched SSMD School of Fashion and interior design in a vibrant launch ceremony. The institute has been established in academic collaboration with VIDM New Delhi, one of the top institutes of design and management in India. The director of the institute Mrs Insha Qazi stated in the opening ceremony that designing being a very lucrative and creatively exciting career option in todays world, would prepare students to pursue non-traditional career, like Fashion designers, stylists, consultants, fashion forecasters, illustrators, town planners, set designers and experts in various other related fields. She stated that with starting of the school, not only would Kashmiri arts and crafts get a boost in the fashion and design circuit but it would also be an opportunity for Kashmiri students to showcase their creativity at a larger platform. The school would also provide opportunity for student exchange with French students, wherein students from Kashmir would visit France and French students would travel to Kashmir, thus boosting cultural tourism in the valley.

The Director Handicrafts Delhi was amongst the dignitaries present at the event, besides the Chairman and Vice Chairperson and other functionaries of SSM group of colleges. The launch culminated with a brief cultural program focusing on the culture and heritage of Kashmir. The Chairman SSM expressed his gratitude to all the invitees. (PTK)
